NWTC AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY Program
Automotive Technology is designed to provide training and experience in the principles of automotive diagnosis and repair. Areas of study include, but are not limited to: braking systems, suspension and steering systems, electrical and electronic systems, engine performance and emission control systems. Advanced students use state of the art test equipment to diagnose problems with starting and charging systems, ignition and fuel systems, and computerized engine control systems. This program combines in-depth theory with extensive hands-on training in our well-equipped auto lab. Students will learn basic and advanced technical skills and essential worker traits to secure and retain employment in automotive and other related fields.
Automotive Technology I – 929 For the first year student
PREREQUISITES: This class is open to all 11th and 12th graders who have earned a “C” or better in Core Math I or a ”B” or better in Applied Math. This class meets two periods per day all three trimesters for 3 credits. Students earn 2 Science credit upon completion of this class.
OPTIONS: Students may be scheduled for just one trimester or just one period with SPECIAL permission from the Tech Center Guidance Office. However, students may not enter this class during the 2nd or 3rd trimester without first completing the first trimester.
Automotive Technology II– 969 For the second yearstudent
PREREQUISITES: This class is open to all 11th and 12th graders who have earned a “C” or better in Automotive Technology I. This class meets two periods per day all three trimesters for 3 credits. Students earn 2 Science credit at upon completion of this class.
OPTIONS: Students may be scheduled for just one trimester or just one period with SPECIAL permission from the Tech Center Guidance Office.
